Reversing pre- or type 2 diabetes starts in the kitchen! Learning how to cook is extremely important in developing a healthy lifestyle. Jose and I have listed our favorite kitchen appliances and tools that we find ourselves constantly using to make healthy eating simpler and more enjoyable. Hopefully, with the help of some kitchen tools, you can too!
Cast iron skillet
We love cooking just about everything in a cast-iron skillet. You can use it for sautéing and baking. It distributes heat evenly and is extremely durable making it last a long time. Be sure to read ingredients online on how to clean it!

Veggie Chopper
You save so much time in the kitchen with this veggie chopper! It chops, dices, grates, you know it! It's designed to help you with cooking and prepping faster and more conveniently.
Instant Pot
This is probably one of our favorite kitchen appliances. Cooking just about everything just got a whole lot quicker. Dried beans in 25 mins? Perfectly cooked quinoa in 1 minute? Yes and yes. Instant Pot has seven different functions, including pressure cooker, slow cooker, steamer, sautér, and yogurt maker.

Tofu press
A tofu press makes cooking tofu a whole lot easier. Tofu is a high protein, high fiber alternative to animal proteins. An essential step in cooking tofu is to drain it and remove excess liquid from the tofu block. This is accomplished by wrapping the tofu in paper towels, which is wasteful and a hassle. This tofu press does all the work for you, mess-free.
Nut milk bag
If you’ve ever wanted to make your own almond milk or nut milk then we suggest grabbing one of these. Nut milk bags make the whole process a lot easier plus you can use the bag for other things like juicing, yogurt, and even coffee!
Vitamix
The best option for blending just about anything – smoothies, soups, sauces, banana ice cream. We love Vitamix's versatility and use it often.
Vitamix E310 Explorian Blender
Food processor
We probably use food processors more than any of my other kitchen appliances. It’s such a handy tool for mixing dressings, sauces, desserts, etc. This one even allows you to chop, slice, finely shred, and blend a range of food products.

Mason jars
Mason jars are great for overnight oats, storing homemade dressings and sauces, and packing snacks.
Tupperware
We suggest going with glass or silicone tupperware over plastic. Neither one has toxins that can leach in your food like plastic. Both withstand high and low frozen temperatures making them dishwasher and freezer safe. These silicone, expandable ones are great for packing lunches for work – they are a lot less heavy than the glass variety. The glass is perfect for storing leftovers at home.

Stasher bags
It’s time to let go of Ziploc bags and start using a re-useable, environmentally-friendly alternative. Stasher bags are our go-to’s. Plus, they are made out of silicone making them nontoxic. They are also dishwasher and freezer safe.
